When Ernie Nick and sons David and Brad opened Fraser Valley Building Supplies in 1992, they did so with a vision of providing quality products and unmatched customer service to the homeowners, contractors and builders of Mission. All three had already worked many years in the building supplies industry, and saw an opportunity to build a strong, family-based business in the Fraser Valley.

February 1, 1992-we opened our store in its original location with 17 employees and 14,000 sq. ft. of retail space.Over the next 25+ years, our footprint has expanded greatly with the Mission location adding a 7-acre lumber yard, agricultural barn, more retail space, and introduced new services and products. This site also houses our Head Office and operational direction for the company.

2015 was a banner year for our company as expansion began. The first event was the grand opening of our newest store in Cloverdale BC, under the Ace Hardware banner. Shortly after the highly successful second store unveiling, we also partnered with RONA Inc.and changed the appearance of our Mission location.RONA has a network of more than 430 stores in Canada and includes both corporate and independent affiliated dealers. As an independent dealer, we are able to offer our customers access to thousands of quality products and services at competitive prices, while still being able to stay connected to our community and offer what our local markets demand.

2016 –FVBS acquired Wilway Lumber Sales located in Abbotsford BC. This site has a rich history of supplying building materials to the area, dating back to the 1950’s as Aberdeen Lumber sales. This site is also operating under the Ace Hardware banner and provides customers with an intimate retail shopping experience, and expansive contractor driven yard.

2017 –FVBS acquired the RONA store in Hope and quickly made plans to move operations to our brand new location at 451 Corbett Street. The beautiful new store boasts a large bright retail floor, covered LBM area, huge yard to keep up with our contractors needs, and increased staffing levels compared to the old location.

Throughout our history, we have supported and contributed to families and organizations throughout the lower mainland, a value that is truly ingrained in our culture. We know we wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our local communities!
